General Principles for Peal Attempts

Due to proximity to the colleges peal attempts at GSM are mostly out of term time, usually immediately before and after the terms. To avoid conflict with University ceremonies and college recordings all dates are coordinated with the University and Kings College some 18 months in advance however dates and availability are generally only provisional and subject to change.

Usually 8 Peals are allocated in the preceding year at the AGM in February by the band with typically allocation of 5 peals for the Society and 3 for visitors one of which is usually allocated to the CUG. A waiting list for peals is not operated and any unsuccessful applicants will need to reapply the following year.

NOTE: Peals for 2011 have now been allocated. Applications for visitor peals in 2012 should not be made until January 2011 at earliest and need be made in writing to the The Master of the Society of Cambridge Youths for consideration at the AGM.
